Farewell Trinidad & Tobago...

Image
It was definitely hard to leave Tobago and our relaxing accommodations at Yellowbird.  However, my father planned another fun-filled day in Trinidad.  We headed back to our hotel, The Hilton Trinidad, after our short flight.  We arrived in time to indulge in their breakfast spread...fried bake, anyone?  I couldn't resist the great views while walking along their bridge...

Our first stop was to Maracas Bay to indulge in some bake and shark.  Trinidad is famous for its bake and shark, especially at Maracas.  It consists of richly seasoned shark fillets stuffed into a fried leavened bread (bake) and dressed with pepper, garlic, and chadon beni (cilantro) sauces...

After eating our bake and shark, we headed down "South," Palo Seco.  During our drive, we stopped at another roadside in order to indulge in some more mango chow and other treats...

After the quick stop, we continued our journey to visit various areas from my father's childhood, such as his old school, Catholi…

Who wouldn't want to wake up to the sounds of the ocean?  I woke up after a peaceful sleep, thanks to my husband who opened the balcony doors.  A girl could get used to this lol...

After quickly changing into our swimming gear, we took a short walk to find some breakfast/brunch.  While the quaint restaurant did not serve food until lunchtime, they made an exception since it was late in the morning.  We all ordered their delicious baked mahi mahi, accompanied with french fries and a salad, and enjoyed the beautiful view...

After a delicious brunch, we walked back to Yellowbird, our accommodations, and admired the cocoa trees along the way.  Chocolate tastes so much better here (I promise)...

Despite the short periods of rain, we enjoyed the beach as well as our private pool...

Later that evening, we had another lovely dinner at Cafe Coco Restaurant & Bar.  While we sipped on our cocktails, we also indulged in some delicious appetizers...

Hello Tobago!

Image
After a couple of fun-filled days in Trinidad, our family was all set for a flight to Tobago in the early afternoon.  Tobago is a pristine gem of an island filled with romance and tranquility.  It's a place blessed with lush greenery and surrounded by sky-blue waters.

Before our flight, we all ventured to breakfast and of course, we weren't disappointed by the vast array of food.  Dr. Man started with his egg white omelet, while the rest of us headed towards their station filled with fried bake.  Fried bake (float) is leavened dough that "floats" to the top as it is cooked in hot oil.  If I could eat fried bake every day, I would...but I don't think my waist or thighs would appreciate it lol!  While indulging in the egg white omelet Dr. Man ordered for me, I also ate some fried bake, mini beef patties, bacon, and smoked herring...

My father and cousin were disappointed that they were not able to indulge in any "blood pudding," since the chefs prepare th…

It was absolutely wonderful to wake up in Trinidad (I actually had to pinch myself that I was actually here).  Our family headed down to breakfast/brunch, which is my favorite aspect of The Hilton...

The smells from the breakfast/brunch area were intoxicating...

I started with their fried bake, bacon, and fried fish, with pepper sauce on the side...

I also took a piece of Dr. Man's made-to-order egg white omelet...

I also couldn't resist the wonderful array of fruit, cold cuts, and cheeses...

After breakfast/brunch, I had to take a quick dip in the pool...

After a quick dip in the pool (and a drink at the bar lol), my father drove the family to Chaguaramas near Crews Inn...

The docked boats were all so beautiful.  It was quite surprising to see a few from my own hometown...

After walking around the docks, we drove a few minutes to Zanzibar Restaurant and the view was peaceful...

We ordered some appetizers for the table to share; spicy shrimp tostones, Asian style calamari, San…
